Venus in Scorpio
My investigation of the significance of the natal placements of Venus in the Zodiac continues. Today I explored Venus in Scorpio with Angelo Damiotti; Venus in Scorpio more than any others has been shrouded in mystery in time and been painted upon a bleak picture. Angel Damiotti lives in London, England where he works as an Artist and Astrologer and where he received his diploma at the Centre for Psychological Astrology CPA.
Astroriflessioni: Hello Angelo, are you ready for this journey to find the most mysterious Venus?
Angelo: I just got back from work so I'm free for a chat about Venus in Scorpio.
Astroriflessioni: Venus is here in exile, there were written pages and pages about this position, some of theme are not exactly enthusiastic ...
Angelo: Yes probably, and It is a position that I personally find fascinating, I recently understood how these seemingly debilitated placements can often offer a little something extra, although to my understanding it is required out of them some inner growth. Sometimes with our astrological jargon we tend to look at reality too sharply, black and white and never in shades of grey; I have never told any of my clients they "are in exile". The characteristics that the planet Venus in this sign wants to express, in order to function constructively, they require some kind of transformation (which literally means: to go beyond its form), indeed a process typical of those who have planets in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio, like all other placements within the zodiac has her own taste in things, in this sign she seems to appreciate everything that is alive, real, raw and it's not a lover of superficiality.
Astroriflessioni: from my side, I read that this position, in particular, it vibrates on a certain level that few people know and can grasp. The vibrations which offers such a Venus is of two souls who recognize themselves instantly.
Angelo: Indeed people with Venus in Scorpio when they are aware of the necessities this placement requires (clarity of your own needs, to look deep inside) they are able to give a lot of affection, and build long lasting relationships. This Venus is in a fixed sign and in water, and as such, it needs to merge with someone or something that is deeply appreciated; the troubles arises when this Venus is not "integrated" in the horoscope and the chart owner does not really understand on what level intensity and depth needs to be manifested, or perhaps they are refused unconsciously.
Astroriflessioni: She (venus in this sign) is in the realm of Mars (Traditional Astrology) and Pluto (Modern Astrology) certainly she does not like trivial things, she needs strong emotions, to discover, to weave cloths (Scorpio is an Arachnid) by advancing slowly but relentlessly and she is capable of great loyalty if its expectations with physical and emotional expectations are not disappointed.
Angelo: something to ponder on is the fact that Venus is at home in the signs that Mars rules and Mars vice versa. I think this tells us something about the nature of the two planets, Mars is an impulse to bring out from within, while Venus rather than throwing herself outside, she attracts the outer to bring in. Mars and Venus are two opposite poles. Venus in this sign loves the pleasure of conquest sometimes, and I think that often people with this position unwillingly choose a difficult relationship, perhaps in an attempt to acquire power, only to end up becoming victims - where there is a power dynamic in a relationship it is very difficult to see love, love and power are not very compatible; Venus in Scorpio transforms herself when she does not look only to the outside, but when she is capable of giving something from the inside.
Astroriflessioni: Mars is the action but it is always born out of a desire and the desire belongs to Venus, Mars should always be in service to Venus. I am full of hope too for this placement partly because it is a benefic planet, it just has different ways to experience love but it still remains Venus.
Angelo: I think it's very important for people with Venus in Scorpio to recognize the need to get to the truth of what is it they value, and anything they feel compelled towards; if their truth is not revealed, then the dynamics to surface are often very difficult; for example, I've seen people with this placement feeling betrayed by a person who they appear to know no more, needless to say that calls out for issues of trust towards the partner - but at the bottom of that it is the ability to trust someone that gets under doubt. Like her sister Venus in Capricorn this position can cut herself off from others and believe that it is always other's people fault. At the bottom of it there is the necessity to learn how to forgive - herself and others - without hiding in a bubble of cynicism in order to protect one from other injuries.
I think the last thing people should do with this Venus, is to deny their cravings, and not to accept this desire to live intensely. Our culture sometimes condemns certain attitudes that in some contexts are considered "excessive" or "thorny" or morally "unacceptable". Denying all of that, is a mistake that is often made because of social pressure, and it ends up flattening the erotic charisma and magnetism that this position gives; and like everything it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but you may be surprised of the remaining rest.
Astroriflessioni: A Venus in Scorpio then, may further exaggerate the nature with any aspect to Mars
Angelo: My Tutor and good Friend Darby Costello told me that people with Mars and Venus in the same sign often love and hate at the same time: to be able to maintain a relationship with a person that is appreciated but you cannot control in every single way that is a paradox, but also a great gift.
Astroriflessioni: A praise on passion! thank you so much for the chat, and I hope to speak to you soon!
